A clear governance structure ensures accountability, academic independence and effective decision-making — from university patronage to our global advisory board.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Chittagong

Provides institutional patronage and university-level oversight of the Center.

Director

Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, PhD

Founding Director responsible for strategic leadership, research direction and representation.

Deputy Director / Coordinator

Appointed by the Executive Board

Supports the Director and coordinates day-to-day academic and administrative operations.

Executive Board

8 members · 2-year tenure

Principal decision-making body — approves memberships, budgets, work plans, agreements and committees, and regulates fees.

Advisory Board (ABCHREMIR)

20 members · 3-year tenure

Global scholars and experts in human rights, environment and migration who advise and collaborate.

How decisions are made

Meetings & quorum

Governance follows the CHREMIR constitution to keep decisions transparent and accountable.

Notice
At least 3 days notice for board meetings.
Quorum
Half of the Executive Board must be present.
Decisions
Consensus preferred; otherwise one-member-one-vote.
Tie-break
The Director holds a casting vote on ties.
Records
Minutes recorded in a signed minute book.
Amendments
Two-thirds of a joint Executive + Advisory meeting.
