Nusrat Yeasmin Pushpo

Nusrat Yeasmin Pushpo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. She has been associated with the department since 2019, initially serving as a Lecturer before being promoted to Assistant Professor in 2022. Her teaching portfolio includes Foreign Policy Analysis, Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues, Peace and Security Studies, Gender and International Relations, Ethnicity and Nationalism, Media and International Relations, and International Organizations.

She completed both her Master of Social Sciences (MSS) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) in International Relations from the University of Chittagong, securing 1st merit position in her Master’s and 2nd merit position in her Bachelor’s. Her academic interests focus particularly on human rights, sustainable development, human rights education, gender, and sustainable development.

Her research has appeared in peer-reviewed academic publications, including Sustainable Development and the Journal of Human Rights and Social Work. She has also contributed a book chapter examining the social and emotional impacts of COVID-19 on women garment workers in Bangladesh. In addition, she has received research grants from the University of Chittagong for projects addressing human rights education, media and civil society activism, women’s empowerment, and higher education.

Beyond teaching and research, Pushpo has experience in professional training and research through her work with Pro-edge Associates Ltd. She is also a co-founder of the Young Diplomats’ Community (YDC), where she has contributed to seminars, debates, workshops, awareness programmes, and other activities aimed at promoting critical engagement with politics, society, and culture among young people.
