Abstract

Patriarchy remains a dominant social system that institutionalizes male dominance and female subordination across political, economic, and cultural domains. This encyclopedia entry examines the conceptual definitions, historical origins, and major theoretical perspectives on patriarchy. Furthermore, it explores the connection between patriarchal structures and UN Sustainable Development Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), emphasizing that dismantling patriarchal barriers is essential for achieving overall social and economic equality.
