Best intentions and local realities: Unseating assumptions about implementing planned community-based adaptation in Bangladesh

Community-based adaptation (CBA) has gained traction in managing climate risks within developing societies. This paper presents research on local perceptions and responses to planned CBA interventions in rural coastal communities in Bangladesh. Findings highlight a deep disconnection between the objectives of NGO-led CBA interventions and the perceptions of local communities, causing participants to prioritize personal gains over collective adaptive capacities.
